Hotel Xixim, A Unique Mayan Hotel

Just one hour west of Merida, western Yucatan, Hotel Xixim is a 32 bungalow, ecologically sustainable retreat hotel located inside Mexico’s 147,000 acre Celestun Biosphere Reserve. On 3 miles of white sand beach covered with xixim (“sea shell” in the Mayan language and pronounced “she sheem”), the hotel welcomes individuals, couples, families and groups. In our tranquil setting, we host yoga group retreats and wellness group seminars, artist and writer workshops, weddings, family reunions, organization meetings, and bird watching and Mayan archaeology expedition groups. Hotel Xixim opened a new Wellness Center for groups and individuals in 2010. The Center includes a 43 foot diameter yoga practice and group activities pavilion, SPA treatment bungalows, a juice therapy bungalow, Jacuzzi, gym, and second pool. Our thirty-two individual Mayan bungalow suites, with large porches and private outdoor showers, nestle in tropical vegetation. The main restaurant features Mexican-Mayan fusion and vegetarian cuisine. The tree-top ocean view bar offers favorite tropical drinks and the famous Chaya Margarita, table games, and a media center with DVD movies and books in four languages, and Wifi internet access.
