Since 1938 , The Gary Housing Authority has been providing rental for low, and moderate income households in the City of Gary Indiana. The agency owns and operates 1,919 public housing units, administers an ongoing public housing rehabilitation program averaging $3.66 million annually, and administers a Section 8 program that provides assistance on behalf of over 2,000 households in the City of Gary. GHA is a partner in two HOPE VI programs, Horace Mann and Duneland through the federal HOPE VI Program.
