Description
Information
Kiwanis Camp Casey is a week long summer camp that takes place annually on Whidbey Island, Washington, and is specifically intended for children ages 6-17 with primarily physical disabilities. For over 75 years, the North Central of Seattle Kiwanis Club has fully funded this camp, so that it is provided free of charge to all campers. All camp staff, nurses, and counselors volunteer their time each summer and throughout the year to ensure that the Casey tradition can continue for many generations to come. At Camp Casey, youth with physical disabilities are able to experience a week free from the stereotypes, judgment, and stares that greet them on a daily basis. Camp is one of the rare opportunities these youth have to be surrounded by peers who can relate to them. The week is a transformational experience for many campers as they are embraced with the unconditional acceptance, friendship, and confidence that we all want and need.
