We are JAM.
JAM is an inclusive fashion brand designed with people with disabilities in mind. Created in 2019 by us, Emma and Molly, two Occupational Therapists working in the disability sector. We were inspired by our work as disability support workers with two young people, Jack and Maddie, hence the name JAM.
Traditionally, inclusive and adaptive clothing has focused on the functionality of the clothing items and targeted towards the elderly or very young. Young people with disability have the right to access clothing that allows them to express themselves and makes them feel good, just like anyone else their age.
Our range of inclusive clothing encompasses universal design principles meaning that they have simple design features that allow people to dress more easily or wear more comfortably. Fashion and function hold equal weight in our design process and we ensure all of our products look as funky as they are functional.
The fashion industry within Australia is targeted to the mainstream population, excluding the 1 in 5 people in the country that live with disability - we want to change this statistic!
This is just the beginning, and we can't wait to see the Australian fashion industry become more inclusive.
