The Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf (CCEFS) provides help for those in need in the communities of Woodbury, Oakdale, Landfall and south Maplewood. CCEFS provides food and personal care items to families in crisis.
Recognized by the Woodbury Area Chamber of Commerce as the 2013 non-profit of the year, the Christian Cupboard Emergency Food Shelf was formed as a non-profit organization by seven Woodbury area churches in 1983. More than thirty years later, the need continues to grow. CCEFS is now a fully registered nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation with the Internal Revenue Service and all donations are tax deductible for contributors.
In the first year of operation, an average of 5 households came to the shelf each week to obtain assistance. By 2005, the number of needy households served on average per week had increased to 75; today, as many as 125 households or more are served each week.
